GOV ALIYU STRESSES RELEVANCE OF TRADITIONAL INSTITUTIONS
The Chief Servant and Governor of Niger State, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu has restated that his administration will continue to recognize the traditional institution because of its relevance and impact in the mass mobilization of people.
Governor Aliyu, who spoke at the turbanning ceremony of the Head of Service of Niger State, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Danyaya as the Dan-Masani Kontagora, stated that Government will continue to “accord respect, support and seek for advise from traditional institutions because of what they stand for and truly represent”. He expressed the belief that traditional institutions will continue to be relevant in the administration, politics and lives of Nigerians.
Dr. Aliyu expressed happiness with the title conferred on the Head of Service which he said adds credibility to the calibre of people that are in his team. “When you work with people that are recognized at home, you are sure that you have people who truly represent their constituencies properly and that when you discuss and agree on issues with them, you know that it would be translated back home”, the Chief Servant emphasized.
The Governor also thanked the Emir and people of Kontagora Emirate for the recognition accorded Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Danyaya, stressing that the title is well -deserved because the Head of Service is a personification of loyalty, wisdom, experience and dedication which the title so represents. He also expressed gratitude to the Emir of Kontagora, Alhaji Saidu Namaska, for honouring the Commissioner of
Culture and Tourism, Alhaji Umar Mohammed Nasko, with the title of Jarmai Karami of Kontagora at the occasion.
While turbanning the Dan-Masanin Kontagora, the Emir of Kontagora, Alhaji Saidu Namaska said the title was conferred on the Head of Service because of his immense and unparalleled contributions to the development of the Emirate in particular and the State in general.
The Emir enjoined the new Dan-Masani Kontagora to see his new position and role as a further challenge to do even more for the overall development of the Emirate. He also urged Alhaji Danyaya to continue to uphold the good virtues Allah has bestowed on him which were instrumental to his selection as the Dan-Masanin Kontagora.
Alhaji Saidu Namaska thanked Governor Aliyu, his deputy, Alhaji Ahmed Musa Ibeto and all other dignitaries who attended the ceremony for making the occasion a pleasant success and memorable one.
Highlights of the occasion were the turbanning ceremony, horse riding as well as reception organized in honour of the new Dan-Masani.. Heads of Service of about eight States from across the country attended the event.
