REMAIN UNITED, GOV ALIYU TELLS POLITICIANS

The Chief Servant and Governor of Niger State, Dr. Mu'azu Babangida Aliyu has called on politicians in the State and Zone 'A' in particular to remain united to ward off any attempt to cause disunity or disillusionment among the people.

He was speaking today in Minna when he received a delegation of politicians form the Zone who came on a solidarity visit. He said the Zone had remained united despite the efforts of some ill-meaning individuals and groups.

Responding to a request by party leaders from the Zone, the Governor said that due consultations will now be made with party executives at the ward and local government levels before any political appointment is made by the State Government. He said this decision became necessary because some political appointees do not regularly report back to their constituencies to intimate and inform their people on the programmes and activities of the government.

The Chief Servant expressed concern over the activities of some disgruntled elements and hypocrites who are misinforming and inciting the public to disobey the government, stressing that party members must be at alert and identify these hypocrites, with a view to isolating and presenting them to the party's disciplinary committee for appropriate action.

"All those who tell lies about the government and the Governor will come to naught. We do not intend to harm but to serve and anybody who wants to sabotage us will face the wrath of the law", the Governor said.

Dr. Aliyu also explained that government did not order the arrest of young almajiris on the streets, instead he continued, government is planning to integrate them into its school system. He also said that the demolition exercise currently going on will be suspended for six months to enable building owners to regularise their land titles in the Ministry of Lands and Housing.

The State Party Chairman, Alhaji Abdulrahaman Mahmud Enagi said the solidarity visit was a demonstration of their unflinching support to the government as well as to show the unity and oneness of the party in Zone 'A'. He described the zone as the heart of politics in the State and called on the Chief Servant to disregard rumours of disunity in the zone.

Alhaji Mahmud expressed happiness with the laudable projects of the Chief Servant especially the ward development project, and expressed the hope that the monthly remittance of the ward development fund may continue.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Senatorial Chairman, (Zone 'A' PDP) Alhaji Abdulkadir Mohammed Agaie said the visit was to show solidarity with the administration of the Chief Servant and to thank him for choosing one of their own as a Minister. He prayed Allah to give Dr. Aliyu the strength to continue with the good work he is doing in the State.

The delegation came from the eight local government areas which make up Zone 'A'. The local governments are Mokwa, Edati, Lavun, Bida, Gbako, Lapai, Agaie and Katcha
